Government Cut Petrol and Diesel Prices by Another 15 sen

This is the fourth time in as many months as global oil prices continue to fall. I'm looking at more oil price reduction below RM1.90 as global oil price towards winter season will be much lower normally.

Anyway, we can see more vehicles on the road especially cars as the petrol and diesel price revise today.

Last-gasp Lennon saves Spurs

Harry Redknapp's magic touch worked again as Tottenham grabbed a last-gasp equaliser through Aaron Lennon to draw a thrilling clash against Arsenal 4-4 at the Emirates Stadium.

Trailing to David Bentley's stunning opener, Arsenal exposed Spurs' weakness at defending set-pieces to lead through Mikael Silvestre and William Gallas.

Emmanuel Adebayor added his obligatory goal - he now has eight from seven starts against Spurs - before Darren Bent pulled one back.

Robin van Persie, who had a hand in Arsenal's previous goals, netted his 50th goal for Arsenal but Spurs have a new resilience under Redknapp and Jermaine Jenas' late strike gave them hope before Lennon struck at the death.

Redknapp's first week in charge just gets better and better.

Spurs remain bottom of the Premier League but the comeback proved Cesc Fabregas wrong after he said Arsenal's ladies team would give Redknapp's men a run for their money.

Aside from that remark, there were plenty of points to prove for Spurs' players, and none more so than Bentley, who found his opportunities at Arsenal limited before getting loaned out and sold in 2006.

There was also Luka Modric, who Gunners boss Arsene Wenger deemed too lightweight to succeed in England. Gareth Bale, meanwhile, still has not won a league game with Spurs since arriving 18 months ago from Southampton.

It was Bale who had the first opportunity of the match, racing onto Tom Huddlestone's ball over the top in the third minute and finding the side-netting.

But the visitors were ahead 10 minutes later through Bentley's moment of magic.

Arsenal failed to clear convincingly from defence, leading to Modric heading the loose ball over his head towards Jenas.

Jenas chested the ball to Bentley, who took one touch to keep the ball in the air before unleashing a 40-yard volley which swerved over Manuel Almunia.

Van Persie then went close twice, going wide from the edge of the area each time, the first with a free-kick and the second after Theo Walcott laid the ball back.

Gallas also went close, this time after the type of fumble from goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes that has become commonplace. The ball broke to Gallas but the finish cleared the crossbar.

Wenger appeared frustrated on the bench as Spurs clattered into challenges and the hosts tried to convert their possession to an equaliser.

Walcott drilled straight at Gomes and Gael Clichy fired over the crossbar in their next moves.

Gomes was then at full stretch to deny Fabregas but Arsenal were level from the corner. Van Persie swung over the set-piece and Silvestre headed home as Gomes flapped.

It took Arsenal less than a minute to take the lead after the restart following a foul by Huddlestone when he hauled back Van Persie.

Van Persie took the free-kick and Gallas climbed above Vedran Corluka at the near post to head home his fourth goal of the campaign.

Sensing Spurs' fragility at set-pieces, Silvestre almost added another from a corner, his header flashing past the upright.

There was action in all areas of the pitch, with Benoit Assou-Ekotto booked for tripping Walcott, then Redknapp sent on Lennon for Bale to inject some pace.

Bentley also picked up a caution for a reckless tackle on Clichy, while Huddlestone went in the notebook for blocking the same player.

Adebayor flashed wide from the edge of the area, but he made no mistake when Arsenal broke in the 64th minute.

Van Persie sent Samir Nasri through to lob Gomes, with Adebayor beating Alan Hutton to the ball to force it home.

Bent was sent on and pulled a goal back after Huddlestone's drive was not held cleanly by Almunia, but Van Persie restored the two-goal advantage in the next move.

Hutton's sloppy pass was picked up by Adebayor, who fed Van Persie to lash home.

That looked like game over but Jenas found the top corner with a minute of time remaining, setting up a frantic finale in which Lennon snatched a point with a tap-in after Modric hit the post.

Wenger argues Ramos sacking was premature

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has taken a swipe at Tottenham ahead of Wednesday night's north London derby.

Wenger believes Spurs acted too hastily in sacking Juande Ramos at the weekend and bringing in Harry Redknapp from Portsmouth as his replacement.

''I don't think he'd have been sacked if he had only arrived at Tottenham in July,'' Wenger said of Ramos.

''But the fact is he arrived in the middle of last season and people were less patient with their league position. What sometimes happens in this league is when a team doesn't go for Europe and wins the Carling Cup, they suddenly switch off.

''Without anyone noticing, slowly you lose results. And then, if you don't start the next season well, which is what happened to Ramos, his environment slowly lost confidence in him.

''I am very surprised it didn't work for Ramos and I feel sorry for him because I rate him as a coach and as a man. It takes time to get your ideas through. I understand Tottenham have to make decisions but you would want anyone to be given more than eight or nine games.

''Now they have gone a completely different way and done away with the director of football because they were suddenly convinced it doesn't work for them. Only time will tell whether Harry Redknapp will be a success.''

Maradona to become next coach of Argentina

Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona is set to be named coach of the national side after he came out of a meeting with Argentinian Football Association president Julio Grondona on Tuesday.

The Albicelestes have been without a coach since Alfio Basile stepped down for personal reasons on October 16 and although Grondona has yet to announce it to the press, reports suggest that the official presentation will take place on Thursday.

Former Argentina coach Carlos Bilardo was also at the meeting, and it is understood he could become a technical director in the new set-up.

Maradona told Radio La Red: "My first job will be watching the players. I'll try to talk to them one by one and then work at the training camp in Ezeiza with them.

"I arrived from Georgia at 10am and three hours later I was having a shower to meet Julio (Grondona). As I was going to the meeting, I thought it was some kind of hidden camera (show).

"The direction Julio wants for the national team is the same Bilardo and I have. My job will be watching the players and picking up the ones who are in the best form."

Maradona has little coaching experience, having been in charge of Deportivo Mandiyu for two months in 1994 and Racing Club for four months in 1995.

Now, he faces the task of helping Argentina improve their form with the Albicelestes having won just one of their last seven World Cup qualifiers to lie third in the South American Zone.

The former Argentina captain told FOX Sports: "The offer from Julio Grondona attracted me a lot. As soon as it is confirmed, I will start working, but I can say I am very proud.

"I'm putting everything aside for this. There is nothing that can make me look past the national team. Today my path is the national team, my task is to talk to the players and build a solid group. I am sure the guys and Argentinian football will pull through.

"I think we must make the players understand that our shirt is the most important thing, that they cannot exchange money for glory. Glory is much more than money. I know they know that, but we must make them remember that every day.

"We have enough quality to calm the nation. The road to the World Cup is not easy, but I believe in the Argentinian players. Everybody wants to play at the World Cup but we must show our traditions and our style on the field."

Prior to the meeting, Grondona told Uruguayan radio station Colonia the Argentinian Football Association were considering ditching the traditional one-coach system in favour of a committee.

"Responsibility cannot only be on one person and we are analysing whether we continue with the one-coach system or we change it by forming a coaching body," Grondona told Colonia.

"One person can never control everything. That system is not working. Coaches are only staying in charge for two or three games. When a forward misses a goal, everybody is looking at the coach and immediately pointing at him.

"I really don't know if all the coaches agree with the idea of a group. Anyway, we are not in a hurry."

Meanwhile, Pedro Troglio, coach of Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno, claims he has already been approached by Maradona to become a member of the new Argentina set-up.

"I am extremely happy, but I must keep my feet on the ground," Maradona's former international team-mate told the Ole newspaper. "The world's best player has called me.

"It was a huge surprise. Being aware that your name is included as possible coaching staff is amazing, but we'll have to wait to see whether Diego is selected."

The 48-year-old Maradona - who almost single-handedly led Argentina to the 1986 World Cup trophy - won crucial support last week in his bid to become the next Argentina coach when the man charged with finding Alfio Basile's successor threw his weight behind the World Cup winning skipper.

"I'd like Maradona to be the next coach," said Noray Nakis, the president of the Argentina Football Association (AFA) selection commission.

Maradona faced competition for the job from Carlos Bianchi, the former coach of Boca Juniors, whom he led to four national league titles, San Lorenzo coach Miguel Angel Russo and Sergio Batista who took the Under-23 squad to Olympic gold in Beijing in August.

Liverpool and Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano said that Maradona, widely regarded as the world's greatest ever footballer, is an ideal candidate to take the reins.

"Maradona can contribute to the team all of his experience," he told the Daily Mail. "What he has given us as a player, no other player could give that to Argentina. He has given us so much."

Maradona is not expected to take charge of the team until after the friendly against Scotland on November 19, a game in which Under-21 boss Batista will probably oversee.

His first official game as coach should be a friendly against France on February 11.

Spanish Cup: Krkic gives weakened Barca win

Teenage striker Bojan Krkic gave a second-string Barcelona side a 1-0 victory over third-tier Benidorm in a King's Cup last-32, first-leg match on Tuesday.

Barcelona, resting several key players including Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, created a host of chances at a rain-drenched Municipal de Foietes stadium in Benidorm but were unable to break the deadlock until the second half.

The 18-year-old Krkic, who fired wide with only the goalkeeper to beat in the first half, picked the ball up in midfield in the 54th minute, ran at the defence and curled a measured shot into the right-hand corner.

Barcelona have the most King's Cup triumphs with 24 but have not lifted the trophy since 1998. Last season, Valencia beat Getafe 3-1 in the final to claim their seventh Cup.

In Wednesday's ties, the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, Portugalete of the Tercera division (fourth tier), play Primera Liga leaders Valencia.

The arrival of the top-flight clubs in the tournament also sees third-tier Real Union play league champions and 17-times winners Real Madrid on Thursday. Return matches are scheduled for Nov. 12.

Wenger backs Adams appointment

Arsene Wenger feels Portsmouth have made the right choice in appointing former Arsenal captain Tony Adams as their new manager.

Pompey moved quickly to confirm the ex-England defender as replacement for Harry Redknapp, who quit the FA Cup holders to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Adams steps up from his assistant role at Fratton Park and his former boss feels the 42-year-old is ready for the challenge.

Wenger said: "It makes me very happy. I believe it is a good opportunity for him and we wish him of course well.

"He is at the age now where you have to start in this job. For the rest I believe he has a good squad and he has worked a lot now in this job and I think he is ready.

"Tony has now much more experience because he has been abroad and has been at Portsmouth as an assistant.

"I believe he has the qualities and that is why I am very positive about it."

Wenger feels Adams, who was his double winning captain in 1998, has now come full circle following his well-documented off-field problems.

"I believe in life when you go wrong you can always, with intelligence and character, turn things right and that is what he did," the Arsenal manager reflected.

"He came out and said he had a drinking problem when he was a player and he showed enough strength and character to change that.

"I believed in him because everybody deserves a chance when he wants really to change life. That basically didn't come from me, it came from him."

Wenger firmly believes Adams has the leadership qualities needed to take Pompey forwards.

"I believe that he has natural authority which is one important ingredient, the second one is of course to convince everybody about your philosophy and the way you see things," he said.

"At that level you need a big resistance to stress and daily commitment.

"You want to give him the chance. What is most important is that I believe he has the qualities.

"He gets the opportunity and only time will tell how he would do and I would bet that he will do well."

Wenger accepts Redknapp is a hard act to follow, but the Arsenal boss noted: "The most important thing you want to have is good players when you arrive somewhere - and I believe Portsmouth has good players and that's where you can show your qualities."

Adams' former England team-mate Paul Ince, himself a rookie Premier League manager with Blackburn, said: "Hopefully he'll do well. It's good, another English manager in the Premier League, and I wish him all the best."

Ince is also positive about the increasing number of English managers in the top flight.

"It's got to be a good thing," he said. "The bottom line is we want to have an English international (England) manager, we don't want to have to keep looking overseas. If you've got four or five in the Premier League, you've got more choice next time when Capello goes."

Le Ark Photo Gallery and Restaurant Sibu

I went to Sibu last two weeks and stayed at Kingwood Hotel at Sibu town. The hotel is near to Rajang River and there is a new restaurant at river front called Le Ark Photo Gallery & Restaurant. The restaurant is very close to Kingwood Hotel and you cannot missed the location. 

What so different about this restaurant is that it is so elegant and stylish and stood out from others. It is like new and modern joint in Bangsar or Sri Hartamas in KL. I can't believe there is such restaurant in Sibu town and this is the only "high class" restaurant I ever found in here indeed. 

The decoration and styling is superb. In term of food selection, there is nothing to shout about, but the price is so affordable. I ordered Nasi Goreng with Chicken Wing and Teh Tarik, and it just cost me RM1o. 

So if you guys wanna have a decent dinner, just have a try at this restaurant if it happen that you are stuck in Sibu. Just find Kingwwod Hotel and you can find this place.

Wenger calls for support from Gunners' fans

Arsene Wenger maintains there are plenty of reasons for Arsenal fans to be positive - and has reminded them of just how far the club has come.

The Gunners boss used yesterday's address to shareholders at the club's Annual General Meeting to stress his belief in a young squad which he feels are not ''getting the support they deserve'' from their own supporters or the media.

Arsenal again showed their undoubted potential with a superb result in Europe this week, thrashing Fenerbahce 5-2 in Turkey to take a significant step towards qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Wenger's men resume their domestic campaign at West Ham on Sunday, when they will be looking to keep pace with leaders Chelsea, having slipped four points behind after already losing two Barclays Premier League games - at Fulham and at home against Hull.

The French coach has long championed the ability of his up-and-coming side in the face of calls for the Gunners to match Manchester United and Chelsea by spending big rather than continuing to rely on the talent of tomorrow in the quest to land a first trophy since 2005.

''We have been very consistent. Through the years we have always been at the top level and we always want to win trophies - but the most difficult thing to achieve is consistency,'' said Wenger, who won the double in 1999 and 2002, as well as claiming the club's last league title with an unbeaten campaign.

''For example, there are only four teams around Europe who have been in the Champions League for 10 consecutive years and we are one of them.

''I agree we have not won the title for four years, but if you look at the history of this club, for 25 years we did not win the championship - and there are also massive clubs who have not won the league for 30 years.''

Wenger added: ''I believe this team needs a strong guide to go through difficult periods, because at the moment I do not feel that, either from the media or our supporters, this team gets the support that it deserves.

''I want to be that guide and I want to get this team to deliver not next year, but this year.''

Despite the need to service their long-term debt following the move to Emirates Stadium, Arsenal have some £60million in reserve should Wenger chose to strengthen his options.

However, with a total wage bill now in excess of £100million, the manager remains determined to only spend the money on the right man at the right price rather than just attacking the January sales when the transfer window re-opens.

''We want to win at the end of the season and if we feel that signings are needed in January to accomplish this, we will do so,'' he said.

Arsenal's new board member Stan Kroenke attended yesterday's meeting, and was alongside Wenger on the top table as chairman Peter Hill-Wood addressed the floor.

The American sports tycoon - who holds around a 12% stake in the Gunners' parent company - accepted the offer to become a non-executive director in September as ties with the Kroenke Sports Enterprises group were strengthened.

However, chairman Hill-Wood maintains the board - who are party to an internal 'lockdown agreement' over selling any of their shares, now worth around £7,600, until 2012 - see no reason to look for any other outside investment.

Since the departure of Keith Edelman, Arsenal have been without a managing director.

Hill-Wood confirmed an appointment would be made ''fairly shortly''.

He said: ''We have been working hard and we are still working.

''Our view is that it is a very important appointment so rather than make a quick decision, we feel it is more important to make the right one.''

Kuching Top Spot : Seafood Paradise

I've been to Top Spot last 4 years and since than I always dreaming to come again to taste the best ever Butter Prawn in Malaysia. Top Spot located at the top level of car park complex just behind Sommerset Kuching.  The location is very easy to find and it is located at Kuching city centre, not far from Hilton, Holiday Inn and Kuching Waterfront.

This place open only at night and normally it is crowded with locals and tourist. We ordered Butter Prawn, Steamed Fish Assam Style and veggies. 

Garoupa priced at RM60 per kg and the fish that we had (red fish I think) priced at RM40 per kg. I wanted to try local veggies that call Midin which is actually pucuk paku but my friend want to try Kangkung Belacan. 

There are a lot of varieties ranging from all kind of shells, prawn, lobsters, fishes and vegetables.

Overall, the foods we had have were very amazing with affordable price (RM53 only). Butter Prawn is the best ever and if I had more time at Kuching, I will try crabs and shells as well.

Kuching Trip: Canvassing

This is actually a work trip, I have been paid to drive all over Kuching and area outside Kuching. I covered roads to Bau, Lundu, Biawak (one of the Kalimantan border crossing points), Pang Stungkor, up north until Sematan and down south to Siburan, Panchor, Serian, Gedong, Balai Ringin, Bunan Gega, Tebedu and Padawan. Arrived in Kuching on Tuesday 14th and headed to Merdeka Palace. Realized Kuching got a new International Airport and it was quite impressive.
By the way, Merdeka Palace Hotel sucks and I moved to Sommerset Kuching which was nearer to Kuching town centre.

I took three days to cover all the routes and it was a wonderful journey journey yet tiring.

I had to take a ferry somewhere near Telega Air towards Sebigo. It reminds me about my journey to Can Tho from Ho Chi Minh City where I had to cross a river for 15 minutes via ferry.

It took around 2 hours to reach Sematan at north and we had a lunch there at Dataran Sematan.

Continued my journey back to Kuching through different route crossing Pang Stungkor and Bau.

Total distance covered for the first day was 300 km.

The next day we jouneyed south to Siburan, Panchor, Serian, Tebedu, Balai Ringin (roads to Sri Aman), Bunan Gega, Tebedu and Padawan. It was a challenging gravel road from Balai Ringin to Bunan Gega and connecting to Tebakang before we made it back to Serian.

The last day we spent canvassing Kuching town including north area such as Sejingkat, Damai Beach, Santubong and Kota Samarahan.

We had a seafood lunch at restaurant near Santubong beach. 

Overall, it was a nice experience travelling in Kuching with beautiful and breathtaking view,  a totally different experience.

Toure joins Gunners backline absences

Arsenal have mounting defensive worries ahead of their Champions League Group G tie against Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Centre-back Kolo Toure has been ruled out after twisting shoulder ligaments in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Everton.

Captain William Gallas (hamstring) and Bacary Sagna (knee) are carrying injuries sustained on international duty last week and are also unavailable after missing the match against the Toffees.

However, midfielder Samir Nasir has shaken off a knock picked up against the Merseysiders and Nicklas Bendtner (ankle) and Johan Djourou (head) both return after being absent at the weekend.

Aidil Fitri Gathering and Celebration Part 2: Bukit Tajau

So much of Hari Raya celebration, we continued our journey to my wife's hometown, Maran. We set off from Bukit Sireh on 2nd October on 11.30AM and arrived at Bukit Tajau around 11.00PM. The journey was so tiring but yet wonderful. We had a stop at Penarek, Kuala Terengganu and Marang.

We spent 2 nights at Bukit Tajau and nothing special this year as my Cik just returned from Umrah. Here's some of shots I took there.

12 sen Drop for Fuel Price in November?

Based on the average monthly fuel price so far, Datuk Shahrir Samad has indicated a probable reduction in petrol prices of up to a maximum of 12 sen by the end of October 2008. If the maximum of 12 sen reduction is achieved, this would mean RON97 fuel could cost RM2.33 per liter, down from the current RM2.45 per liter. This maximum drop is possible if crude oil prices average out below US$104 per barrel.

Our petrol price is dependent on two factors - the price of crude oil itself and the exchange rate between USD and MYR. Datuk Shahrir mentioned that at current exchange rate prices, oil per barrel has to be US$72 for a RM1.92 petrol price. If we want to enjoy a RM1.92 price with oil costing more than US$72 per barrel, our ringgit instead needs to appreciate against the US dollar.

Waddahek! Datukship for Shah Rukh Khan

The Malacca Governor’s 70th birthday title award ceremony here was abuzz with excitement with many expecting to see popular Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan receive his Datukship on Saturday.

However, the international star and heartthrob was not to be seen at the Dewan Seri Hall in Ayer Keroh. Efforts are still being made to get him to come to Malaysia to collect his award.

The Datukship award has been questioned by various parties, including politicians and diehard fans.

Some say the actor did not deserve the award as “he hardly knows where Malacca is” while others say he “promoted Malacca in his songs and movies.”

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the decision to confer the title on the actor was based on a suggestion by former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin to Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob recently as a means to further promote Malacca owing to the fact that the actor had shot a movie scene here several years ago.

He said the movie One 2 ka 4 was shot at the A Famosa Resort in Alor Gajah in 2001.

“This resulted in many people visiting Malacca since then. The award is given in recognition of this,” he said after the awards presentation ceremony on Saturday.

Mohd Ali said awarding international artistes was also a good way to promote the state and country as a location for movies.

“Phuket Island is famous as an international tourist destination because of a James Bond movie,” he said, adding that Shah Rukh Khan’s movies have penetrated the European, US and Middle Eastern markets.

He said Daim is making arrangements to bring the actor here to receive the award in a special ceremony.

Penarek Revisited

We took coastal road to Pahang via Terengganu and one of my favourite place there is Penarek. It has a beautiful beach and a very good fresh seafood delight stalls. 

We stop there around 2PM and gave a try at this small stall selling deep fried squid, fish, prawn and keropok lekor. I hit jackpot with deep fried squids as it was full of roe and with price at MYR4 per squids, it was a best fried squids I ever had!

Aidil Fitri Gathering and Celebration Part 1: Bukit Sireh

his year we celebrated Aidil Fitri at my hometown, Kuala Krai. We started our journey home on Monday night and arrived at Bukit Sireh around 4.30am Tuesday (one day before Hari Raya). It's been a while that I didn't drive at night as I always done before married and I was quite afraid of traffic jam and tiredness but Alhamdulillah everything gone smoothly. I had a smooth ride after having cuppa Hazelnut Old Town White coffee and double boiled eggs. The caffeine lasted until we arrived at Kelantan and didn't feel sleepy at all.

For Hari Raya, we prepared satay, nasi himpit and peanut sauce (kuah kacang). The best part was preparing satay on raya eve with my brothers, nephews and nieces. Sarah having bad time with her allergies and asthma that night, me and my wife had to stay up until Sarah slept at 3am.
On the Raya morning, I woke up @ 8am...can hear Tasbih Raya from afar, had a quick morning bath, wore new baju melayu and headed to surau for solat Aidil Fitri. Luckily I can squeezed in the surau and had a prayer with empty stomach....felt like fasting again..Here's our family pictures during Raya Celebration in Bukit Sireh:
