Barca starlet Busquets signs long-term deal

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has agreed a new four-and-a-half-year contract extension with the Primera Liga leaders.

Busquets has been given his chance under new coach Pep Guardiola after proving his ability when they worked together with the Barca B team.

The 20-year-old, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, is now tied to Barcelona until June 2013 with his buy-out clause set at €80 million.

The Sabadell-born midfielder joined Barca's youth system from Jabac in the summer of 2005.

Having progressed through the ranks, he made his Primera Liga debut in September in a 1-1 draw against Racing Santander on the second weekend of the season and has gone on to establish himself as a regular member of the starting XI.

His emergence has seen more experienced players such as Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure relegated to the bench by Guardiola, whose side have built a 10-point lead at the top of the Primera Liga heading into the Christmas break.

I believe the photo is of Gai Assulin, not Busquets.
