Eto'o would welcome Benzema at Barcelona
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has urged his club to make another addition to their galaxy of attacking talent by signing Lyon and France star Karim Benzema.
Benzema, the French league's leading scorer and stand-out talent, last week spoke of his desire to play for one of Europe's heavyweight teams in the coming years.
And he would be welcomed with open arms at Barca by Eto'o, even though the Spanish giants already have the likes of Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi on their books.
"Barca are the biggest club in the world and the biggest club in the world need the best players in the world," he said. "Benzema is in that category at the moment."
Eto'o, in his interview with French daily L'Equipe, poured cold water on speculation linking him with a move to AC Milan by saying he wanted to stay at Barca until his contract expires in 2010.
The 27-year-old is now flourishing with the Blaugrana after appearing to be on his way out during the summer, when he was given the cold shoulder by new coach Pep Guardiola and placed on the transfer list.
When his time at the Catalan side comes to end, he has set his sights on drawing the curtain on a distinguished career by playing a season in France and having another year at old club Mallorca.
"I dream of one day playing for Marseille, even though I am a Parisian," added Eto'o, who grew up in the French capital and owns an apartment in the city. "France, for me, is like Cameroon. So at the end of my career, when the time comes where my body is telling me to stop, I will perhaps play a last season in France.
"And also a season in Mallorca. I really owe them that."
